Liber XII Omelia Predicator quippe cōtra erudiendā ani obſidionē ordināt: cum p̄monendo in dicāt: quibus ſe modis vicia virtutibus opponant: quomō luxuria caſtitatē feriat qualiter ira tranquillitatē anīe perturbet quantū inepta leticia a vigore mentis re­ſoluat: qualiter multiloquiū munitiōem cordis deſtruat: quomodo inuidia chari­tatē interficiat: quēadmodū ſuperbia ar­cem humilitatis effodiat: qualiter falla­cia veritatē in ſermone corruperit: hāc etiā in cogitatiōe corrumpat: vt qui verū dicere noluit qd̓ intellexit: iam nec intelli gat quod dicere valeat. Ordinat̉ ergo a predicatore obſidio: per ſancte admo­nitiōis verba ſingulis quibuſqꝫ virtuti­bus vel qͥbus modis vicia inſidiēt̉ oſtē dit̉. Et contra hieruſalē quā deſcripſit in latere p̄dicator munitiōes edificat: quā­do mala queqꝫ ꝙͣ munita cōtra mentē ve­niant de mōſtrat: vt ſi ſe vicia ſub virtutū ſpecie abſcondāt: quatenus ſicut ſepe iaꝫ diximꝰ immoderata ira iuſticia videri ap­petit: diſcipline remiſſio māſuetudo vi­dere velit tenacia ſeſe parſimonia nomi net: inordinata. rerū effuſio ſe beniuolē­tiam appellet. Quomodo em̄ mens deſiderare celeſtia ceperit: eo in illā maligni ſpiritꝰ tempta­ptiōibus ſuis terrenas ampliꝰ cogitatio­nes exaggerāt Propheta ergo aggerē portat: predicator ſanctus bonis mēti­bus qualiter terrena deſideria ſurripere ſolent denūciat. Atqꝫ adhuc addit̉. Et dabis contra eam caſtra pones arietes in gyro.) Ex diſſolutiōe quippe ſpiritus mēs ad inglu­uiē ventris rapit̉. Et dum cibis vēter ex­tendit̉: ad luxuriā caro trahit̉ ſuperbiēdo captiua. Et reuerſus ex multiloquia fal­lacia generat̉. Quia valde difficile eſt: vt qui multa loquit̉: non etiā mentiatur. At ſepe mendaciū etiā periurio regit̉: vt ante humana iudicia veletur. Superbia quoqꝫ eſſe ſine inuidia atqꝫ inani gloria nullatenꝰ poteſt. Superbus etem̄ quiſqꝫ honorē queꝫ ip̄e ambit: alijs inuidet. Ponit ergo predicator arietes in gyro caute denūciat: ꝙͣ blande lu­xuria percutit: ꝙͣ aſpere in patiētia occi­dit: quā laborioſe auaricia accēdit inte­rimit: ꝙͣ tumide ſuperbia extinguit.
